EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT
Brandon’s time in association leadership and as a board member led him to be actively engaged in all facets of non-profit management from fundraising and accounting procedures to human resource management and board development while traveling to actively promote the organization’s policies among high level state and national officials and stakeholders.
  • At the direction of the Board, serve as the statewide and national contact person MMEA

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of MMEA under the direction of the Board, through the President

  • Support MMEA relationships with other organizations

  • Serve as Board's contact person for members or vendors who have inquiries or requests

  • Coordinate activities of MMEA standing committees

  • Serve as the corresponding officer for the Board

  • Attend the NAfME Annual Conference, with registration and travel costs paid by MMEA

EVENT MANAGEMENT

Every individual on our team has planned and/or hosted scaled state and national conferences, events, and expos with an attendance of at least 3,000 registrants. Katie’s experience in the hospitality and event management industry allows our team to appreciate the nuances of hotel and food service contracting and the development of efficient registration systems during our planning stages. Brandon and Brian will manage the budgeting, signage, and professional development support opportunities for the below events. 

  • Take a lead role in the development of MMEA professional development activities offered to membership

  • Work with the President and Officers to develop agendas for Board meetings and other organization sponsored events

  • Attend and coordinate logistical arrangements for all Board and management team meetings 

  • In coordination with the Vice-President, prepare the annual time schedule for Association activities

  • Obtain bids and oversee contract negotiations for meeting venues 

  • Be proactive in website updates and ensuring the most current conference information is available by working with the committee

  • Annual Meeting Support

    • Budgeting

    • On-site direction/signage 

    • Online Registration/invoicing 

    • On-site registration/nametags

    • Speaker support

    • Hotel and food services contract management/negotiation 

    • Recognition of event sponsor(s)

    • Etc

MEMBER RELATIONS

Our team’s experience and expertise in membership support, relations, and growth will be a strong asset to MMEA and its membership. Brian’s experience involves national membership organizations as large as 600,000 individual members where he served as National President and co-chaired the organization’s board of directors which oversaw a $24 million budget. Brandon’s resume includes time as the executive director of a 9,000 member statewide organization with over 180 individual chapters as well as time on multiple state-level boards of directors for membership organizations. Brandon and Brian will share responsibility for membership services. 

  • Maintain records and provide regular membership reports

  • Maintain and publish a membership list

  • Process and file membership applications and materials

  • Seek membership renewals 

  • Coordinate membership communications, materials and events 

  • Coordinate conference calls for teams and officers, as needed

STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS
  • Maintain receipt of mail, UPS, FedEx, and deliveries 

  • Provide for MMEA communications (phone & email)

  • Assist in utilization of social media 

  • Maintain mmea-maryland.org (server and domain fees paid by MMEA)

FINANCIAL SERVICES

Brandon has extensive knowledge of nonprofit management and policy for membership organizations at the local, state, and national levels. Brandon’s experience as a member, member of boards of directors, and staff for such organizations allows for a consistent and timely approach to the day-to-day operations of an organization. Brandon’s business education and experience managing organizations with annual budgets of $750,000+ and investment accounts of $5 million allow for confidence in the proper handling of organization funds. Our team utilizes Intuit QuickBooks for account management and reporting. 

  • Maintain and facilitate books, accounts, income & expenses, and financial records with the Treasurer and President

  • Provide timely financial reports to Executive Committee & Board 

  • Manage MMEA investment accounts

  • Liaise with outside auditor for completion of tax returns

  • Maintain consistent and regular communication with MMEA board members

  • Communicate with elected treasurer for development of annual budget, finances, etc.

  • Develop all required State Corporation Commission Annual Reports
